OPPO Electronics corp. is famous for products including Blu-ray players and smartphones, its Smartphones generally being more popular for being selfie experts. OPPO R9s is a follow up of OPPO R9 with no surprising upgrades, and before purchasing this handset we consider other Smartphones which have  the same price also stamped on R9s, including OnePlus 3T, Huawei, and Pixel. Why should we purchase it? what makes it standout? lets find out if there is any glamour hidden in this mobile phone.

Starting off with the design.. The first impression which you get when seeing R9s is “Have they mistaken? isn’t this iPhone 7 ?..”.. yes folks with that much resemblance OPPO is not going to get anywhere in improving its originality sector. They should have gone for a slightly different approach, we’re not saying that it looks horrific or something, in fact truth be told it looks “stunning”, its one of OPPO’s most polished phone.

R9s has an all metal aluminium premium body which is super thin (6.6 mm), with very thin bezels on its sides, well rounded corners and a smooth body with the only sharpness being along its sides. The back side of the mobile is clean with a camera and sensor resting at the top and a silver OPPO’s logo at the center along with almost invisible antenna lines. The front side of the device is covered with Gorilla Glass 5. The bottom panel contains a home button with an internal fingerprint scanner which operates instantly. On either side of the home button are the illuminated multitask and back keys. On the left side lies the volume rocker and on the right side is the power button. The bottom edge is engraved with a USB port and a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack. The dual SIM card slot can be used for operating two SIM’s or one SIM and a MicroSD card.

The 5.5 inch AMOLED display is surprisingly lively with a resolution of 1080 pixels, that means 401 pixels per inch. It shows off punchy colors which can easily be viewed even in direct sunlight and shows off powerful images.  The speaker quality on R9s isn’t such a wow factor, the side firing speakers provide clear audio but its just not the best.

OPPO R9s comes powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset; that isn’t as exciting as the Snapdragon chipset 820, and the performance overall is slightly lagging. Users prefer something more faster and snappier, but this handset slows down during multitasking, gaming and browsing apps. So that brings it down to being a decent and reliable phone. There’s 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB internal storage, extendable storage is available through a MicroSD card . The 3010 mAh battery of this handset is Top Notch, after continuous gaming of about 16 hours there will still be some battery juice remaining. For normal usage the battery life can be extended to two days before requiring the next recharge.

We are always interested in the camera performance, R9s stocks killer camera’s. Both the front and rear camera’s are powered  with 16 megapixel sensors. The rear camera is supported by a f/1.7 aperture which takes in extra light and provides adequate pictures even in dim light. The Camera’s auto focus is an excellent feature being quick and responsive it shoots explicit pictures, however any type of camera movement is detected and its not as perfect as we desire. The rear camera also features 4k video recording. Unfortunately OPPO failed to knock out the noise produced in pictures in moderate light, but like any mid-range smartphone, pictures taken outside in clear daylight are dazzling, with vibrant punchy colors (also balanced in saturation) and mind blowing details. The front f/2.o Camera broadcasts exceptional selfies, selfie freaks will fall in love with it. The built in beauty mode is also a killer for enhancing your beauty.

We cant forget that OPPO has started using the Android 6 operating system, R9s is powered by OPPO’s own Color OS  3.0. This version throws in a lot of bells and whistles.

Conclusion be made that OPPO’s R9s is externally and internally a captivating device meeting all ends making it a flagship mobile phone. However it lacks originality, today if a mobile company wants recognition it needs to be innovative and provide the consumers something totally unique. Besides all cons R9s is good to go.
