A number of  high quality yet affordable Smartphones have been manufactured by Huawei under the sub-brand Honor. Huawei’s Honor line now includes the new Honor 6X. There are a number of improvements in this handset as compared to last years Honor 5X. A question that arises is “is Huawei really focused on providing a perfect Smartphone for its users or is it just competing to become viral?”, lets find out what Honor 6X has to offer..

Honor 6X has the same metal design as its predecessors, it does not feature a complete unibody. It has a metal back with just the top and bottom made from plastic for the network reception. A dual camera and the fingerprint scanner are in a vertical orientation to each other. Its a simple and clean design, the front is all glass. The edges are more rounded with a curved and smooth back, it feels great to hold. However the buttons don’t have that click to it and feel kind of mushy, after some time they might start to stick into the phone.

You get the power button and volume rocker placed on the right edge, a SIM and MicroSD card slot on the left side. The top edge houses a 3.5mm headphone jack and the bottom edge contains the MicroUSB charging port between the microphone and speaker grille. The design is more smoother but there is nothing extraordinary about it. Yet its just as attractive as any other high quality Smartphone.

Honor 6X offers a 5.5 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Its not as good as the AMOLED display’s you get on Samsung or Apples iPhone, but it works petty well considering the price tag. Its bright enough for sunlight visibility, and the text is sharp and clear. The colors are relatively crisp and punchy, that said you wont face any issue with the viewing angels either. You can customize the colors to your taste while the color reproduction itself is pretty nice.

Processor and Battery:

Huawei has packed its own mid-range processor in Honor 6X  “Kirin 655” (Octa-Core clocked at 2.1 GHz) along with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB built in storage. This provides a superb upgrade in performance for the mid-range smartphone. Graphic intensive gaming and apps are no problem for Honor 6X, everything works out fluidly. Its snappy response takes it head to head with any other premium mobile phone.

Honor 6X gets another plus point for its large battery capacity and long battery life. You can easily extend the battery life to about 1.5 days with average usage (assuming your using apps, Facebook, browsing the web and receiving email and notifications). Huawei has installed a battery manager which successfully prolongs the battery life. You also get fast charging with the adapter with an average charge time of about an hour till fully charged.

Old Android Version:

The handset lacks NFC, this will be a disappointment for most users. The speaker quality isn’t as fine toned and is easily muffled. However you do get the fast fingerprint scanner and the MicroSD expandable storage is a boost in its hardware. Unfortunately Honor 6X runs on the old version of Android 6 Marshmallow instead of the new Android 7 Nougat. Were not saying that it wont provide the basic Android experience, its just unaccounted for since it got released just a few months after 7 Nougat.

The Dual Camera setup on Honor 6X includes a 12 Megapixels primary camera and a 2 Megapixels secondary shooter. The shots taken by the dual camera take in some amazing details and show off realistic colors. What the 2 MP sensor does is that it captures depth information. Along with that you get the wide aperture mode; Allowing you to take pictures with different blurring affects and apertures (f/0.95 to f/16). Number of other modes include the beauty mode, night shot and the manual mode. The front 8 Megapixels Camera also captures well detailed photos even in low lit conditions, the only concern being that it is fixed focused.
